Warli is the ancient art of the tribes from the western mountainous region of Maharashtra. It has been practiced since 3000 BC, with paintings created with white rice paste on red brick walls. These speak of the daily life and culture of the Warli tribe.
As does this trim, which depicts scenes from daily village life. With men and women travelling to their farm - some in a bullock cart, some on foot, carrying their ploughs. Created with embroidery in black on base fabric in red cotton. The embroidery is done so delicately that it looks like a handmade painting.
