Kalamkari is a traditional Indian art form of hand-painting, practiced in the southern Indian states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana It derives its name from the word 'Kalam',which means pen or brush, and ‘Kari’ which means work or art. It used to be hand drawn with brushes made of twigs, and colours made from organic, natural products like grains, spices (turmeric), indigo, madder, sugar molasses and mineral colors.
