A very quirky fabric, with a row of fish printed in the Madhubani style in yellow and blue on a vivid pink.

Madhubani is a very distinct style of painting from the Mithila region of India. Traditionally created by women to decorate the mud walls of their homes, these have since graduated to adorn clothes, fabrics, tapestries and décor. These delicate paintings used to be done with homemade tools like twigs, brushes and matchsticks, using natural dyes and pigments. Very often they were created to celebrate special occasions, such as marriage, birth, and festivals like Durga Puja.

This fabric depicts the fish - considered very auspicious in Indian Madhubani mythology. supposed to denote fertility.
